Philosophy

Two highly skilled artists, whose combined talents cover a broad spectrum in the decorative painting industry, teamed up in 2009 to open a new studio in South East Michigan. Owners of this business, known as the VENETIAN PLASTER COMPANY, are artists Melanie Rzepecki and David Keena, who collectively bring more than 45 years of experience to this company.

David Keena – “My expectation is that you will find working with us to be a very pleasurable experience”. This philosophy is what fuels David’s professionalism and love of his trade. An expert in large scale residential and commercial projects specializing in authentic lime based Italian plasters; David has developed a strong reputation for providing the client with quality, choice and beauty. “A lot of what motivates me to create is taken from nature. I love to pull textures from landscapes, stone, wood and other natural resources and try to achieve finishes that look natural. We want the client to feel like they are getting a work of art, not just another decorative finish.”

Melanie Rzepecki – “I like to get involved in every aspect of a project from start to finish and look at not only the walls, but ceilings, furniture, wherever decorative painting can evoke the mood and look the client is striving for. We are always pushing the envelope to create new and interesting finishes for all surfaces”. Melanie’s expertise ranges from intricate architectural ornamentation, stenciling, decorative walls treatments to mural and Trompe I’oeil work. “We pride ourselves on our relationship with our clients and going beyond their expectations. When working in your home, we go out of our way to protect your belongings, leaving you with a wonderful experience while having us in your home.”
